Research, a tool for your toolkit
Research is an incredible tool. As a behavior analyst, it makes sense. Thus, I should read more. I should do more.
Jealousy, controlling behavior, quick relationships, isolation, blaming, hypersensitivity, animal cruelty, manipulative sex, rigid roles, threats of violence, and past battering can be signs of abuse (Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke, 2022).
Gaslighting can occur when someone discredits events, creating doubts in a person’s mind.
Choice-making, task analysis checklists, video modeling, and response feedback can be used to evaluate shelter capacity, privacy measures, disruption and teach life skills. Behavior change protocols should be written to guide police, prosecutors, and judges and legal interventions should be strong enough to prevent further abuse (Myers, 1995)
